SELF-PRESERVATION AS A BEHAVIOR OF COLLEGE YOUTH: THE SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

The purpose methods of sociological research to reveal the basic characteristics self-preservation behavior in college students and establish optimization of these findings.
Methodology of research: the development of a phenomenon of “Health Promotion” by the in a context of research; the concept of self-preservation behavior developed by Russian sociologists (Antonov A.I., etc.); a method of the sociological analysis (Sokolova G.N., etc.).
The results obtained: the concept of self-preservation behavior as sociological category is defined, the sociological model of self-preservation behavior is constructed, eight social types are theoretically and empirically identified and approved, portraying the bearers of each of the eight types.
Scientific novelty consists of defining a self-preservation behavior as sociological category within the limits of which the given phenomenon is considered in biological, social attitudes. New empirical results characterize various kinds of self-preservation behavior in college students based on the degree of expression of biological, psychological and social orientations in this conduct.
Recommendations for the application of the results obtained: Applications of this scientific research may interest the following divisions of the city of Minsk: committee of of ideological work, which includes the department of work with mass-media, the department of youth affairs.
Field of the application of the results obtained - sociology of medicine; the educational institutions which are carrying out the sociologists, psychologists, teachers and social workers; by development of the state programs directed to institutionalization of way of life.
